The National Insurance Commission has certified the appointment of Mr. Japhet Duru as the Executive Director, Technical, Old Mutual General Insurance Company Nigeria.

NAICOM said Duru would oversee the operations department of the organisation with a view to bolstering its underwriting operations and maintaining prompt claims settlement.

According to the company, “Duru, an Economics graduate of the Imo State University, started his career at Valid Insurance Limited. Prior to joining Old Mutual General Insurance, he served as the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer at HIERS Insurance Brokers Limited.

“Duru has also held various senior management positions such as Head of Underwriting at KBL Insurance Limited; Group Head, Technical, International Energy Insurance Limited; and Head of Operations at Stanbic IBTC Insurance Brokers Limited.

“Duru also holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the Lagos State University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.”
