The National Broadcasting Commission, slammed a heavy fine on one of Nigeria’s foremost news stations, Channels Television.
NBC is demanding N5 million from the station for breaching the broadcast code.
A letter to Channels Television from NBC’s Director General, Armstrong Idachaba, referred to a live broadcast at 7pm on Sunday, 25th April, where an official of the Indigenous People of Biafra was allowed to make secessionist comments.
NBC held that It also the station allowed the guest to make derogatory, false and misleading statements about the Nigerian army, despite being proscribed by a court of law.
Spokeman of IPOB, Emma Powerful, during the programme, Sunday Politics, reacted to the state on insecurity in the South East and blamed the military for the situation.
