By Ngozi Onyeakusi—The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Unitrust Insurance Limited John Ijerheime, has charged insurance brokers in the country, under its umbrella body, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers ( NCRIB) to partner the firm for further growth.
Ijerheime made the call when Unitrust Insurance played host of the September Edition of the NCRIB Members Evening held in Lagos.
Ijerheime, who was represented by the firms Executive Director, Technical, Mrs Yetunde Adenuga stated that Unitrust in August clocked 35 as a sound, strong a full capitalised company, with impressive financials and good claims history which he said positioned the firm to stand tall among its peers.
He said, Unitrust recognised the role play by brokers in the industry adding that that informed the firms resolve to partner NCRIB.
Consequently, he charged brokers to support Unitrust as it guns form further growth.
Speaking on the companies performance in year 2020, he noted that despite challenges of the COVID-19, the firm closed the year with a Gross Premium Written (GPW) of N3.98 billion, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 13 per cent during the corresponding period of 2019.
He maintained that the firm’s  Profit After Tax (PAT) for the year stood at N747.172 million against recorded in 2019 and that in the same vein, the company’s underwriting profit improved significantly as the total of N802.194 million achieved from N 301.759 million reported in the 2019 financial year.
He added that the firm settled claims to the tune of N1.08 billion within the period.
