Why Female accountant commits suicide in Lagos

A 47-year-old accountant Afolake Abiola has committed suicide by allegedly drinking a pesticide.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 27, 2022, at her 1, Abayomi Kukomi Close residence in Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos.

It was learnt that Afolake who is single and childless had suffered depression for a while before she took her life.

According to a family member who spoke on condition of anonymity, “she has been battling depression for a while on account of no husband and no child.”

A neighbor also confirmed the depression rumour saying “she has been battling depression for a while on account of no husband and no child.”

Spokesman for the Lagos State police command, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed the incident saying: “The moment the police in that area were alerted, they arrived at the scene and met the woman lifeless on the floor.

“A bottle of insecticide was also found by her, apparently, she had ingested that insecticide.

“Her family members were there and they requested that the corpse be released to them to enable them to bury her according to Islamic rites.

“Based on compassionate grounds, her body was released to her family for burial.”
