BREAKING: CBN Redesigns Naira Notes, New currencies Begin Dec. 15, 2022, Existing Currencies Cease Jan. 31, 2023
By Ngozi Onyeakusi—-The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has obtained the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to redesign, produce, and circulate new series of banknotes at N100, N200, N500, and N1,000 levels.
Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor, said this at a press conference on today in Abuja.
According him the circulation of new currency take effect from December 15, 2022.
Adding that new and existing currencies should remain legal tender and circulate together until January 31, 2023 when the existing currencies shall cease to be legal tender.
