Frontline Media Int’l Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Honours Industry Captains
Frontline Media Int’l Saturday 1st July 2023 celebrated her 20th year of reporting business and economy of Nigeria as well as, recognized the outstanding efforts and contributions of key organizations towards optimizing the blue economy in Nigeria. The event which took place at Welcome Centre Int’l Hotels Lagos, featured a captivating lecture titled “Maximizing the potential of the blue economy in Nigeria” and delivered a by renowned management expert and motivational speaker, Mr. Ubong Esien, who is also Senior Special Assistant to the Director General of NIMASA.
The Frontline Media Leadership Award serves as a platform to honor organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exemplary dedication and innovation in advancing the development of Nigeria’s blue economy. This year’s award ceremony recognized the significant achievements of managements of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), and Nigeria’s Shippers’ Council.

The lecture delivered by the NIMASA representative shed light on various opportunities and strategies for optimizing the blue economy in Nigeria. Ubong’s expertise and insights provided valuable guidance on how these esteemed organizations can further harness the potential of Nigeria’s vast aquatic resources, while promoting sustainability, economic growth, and social development.
Ubong called on the maritime media to disseminate information on the benefits of Blue Economy, stressing that the media as agenda setter, as well as opinion moulders, have all it takes to drive home the message
The management of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) under Dr. George Moghalu has been recognized for its commendable efforts in developing and maintaining the country’s inland water transportation systems. NIWA’s commitment to improving connectivity, facilitating trade, and creating employment opportunities has played a pivotal role in transforming Nigeria’s blue economy.
Dr. Mohammed Bello-Koko, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has been instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of Nigeria’s ports, thereby boosting the nation’s maritime sector. NPA’s strategic initiatives and state-of-the-art infrastructure have bolstered trade activities and positioned Nigeria as a preferred maritime destination.
The DG of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) was also honored for his unwavering commitment to ensuring high-quality standards in the maritime industry. SON’s rigorous quality control measures and certification processes have not only improved the reputation of Nigerian products and services but have also fostered trust and confidence among international trading partners.
RT. Hon Emmanuel Jime, CEO of the Nigeria’s Shippers’ Council, as a key regulator in the maritime sector, was also honoured for making significant contributions in promoting fair trade practices, protecting the interests of shippers, and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global market. The Council’s proactive approach and comprehensive regulatory framework have facilitated smoother operations and fostered a favorable business environment for both domestic and international stakeholders..
The award ceremony provided an invaluable platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore opportunities for further collaboration.
