Ladies and Gentlemen
I am most delighted to welcome you to this epochal event which is the Fellows Day and Investiture of new Fellows of the Council, in line with the prescription of the NCRIB Act No 21 of 2003 for the admission of members into the highest echelon of its membership category.
Suffice it to note that the Fellows Day is held on a yearly basis to allow for high level professional and social interaction amongst Fellows, for the continuous development of the Council. The Governing Board has however, approved that the induction of new Fellows be held as part of this year’s Fellows Day.
Permit me to note that the process leading to the admission of the new Fellows was quite stringent, as the candidates were considered on the basis of professional qualifications, integrity and leadership traits, among other criteria.
These hurdles have become necessary for the admission of this category of membership in view of the responsibility that the position behoves them.
Aside from being expected to be the beacon of light to inspire others, the new Fellows are required to be above board in all their undertakings.
I must, therefore, use this medium to appreciate the Board of Fellows, under the indefatigable Chairman and Past President, Barr. Laide Osijo, for the diligent commitment of the Board of Fellows’ members throughout the screening process, culminating in the success of this exercise.
It is heartwarming that the 48 Fellows would be admitted today into the Society of Fellows.
It is my utmost pleasure that we would soon be listening to an Induction Talk themed: “*maintaining generational relevance* to be delivered by the erudite Eng. Abiodun Fijabi, a prolific speaker, leadership coach and iconic personality.
Definitely, the talk would refresh the minds of all Fellows with the new responsibility of leading in a professional industry like ours, especially at these challenging times.
Since leadership, is Influence, my take is that this new status has foisted on all awardees the need to be above board in all areas of their lives and practice. They must hold themselves out as good ambassadors and role models whose conduct must be above board at all times. It is my hope that you would all live up to these bounden responsibilities as I heartily congratulate you all.
I cannot end my speech without appreciating all members for their support since the inception of this administration. Despite besetting challenges, you have all shown good comradeship and support for the smooth running of our Council. Together we have been able to keep our eyes on the thrust of this administration which is BROKERS CENTRICISM. There is no doubt that the pride of all brokers regardless of their size, station or location has been enhanced.
Once again, I thank you for coming and wish you all a delightful Fellows Day.
ROTIMI EDU, mni, FCIB
