By Ngozi Onyeakusi—Insurance Brokers under the aegis of The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has applauded the Chairman of NEM Insurance Plc, Mr. Tope Smart for being conferred with the award of “Insurance CEO of the year” by Almond Promotions.

Tope Smart has been a leading icon in the Nigerian insurance industry and abroad, having served variously as Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and President of the African Insurance Association (AIO), during which he gave the continental body foresighted and pragmatic leadership.

Having led NEM Insurance Plc to a pivotal position as one of the leading brands in the insurance industry, under Tope Smart NEM hit a premium income of over N33billion gross premium in 2022 and became a toast to investors by paying dividend per share of 30 kobo per share, which was one of the highest amongst its peers in the market.

Tope Smart was recently elevated by the Board of the company to the position of Chairman while Mr Andrew Ikhekua became the Group Managing Director.

Felicitating Tope Smart on the award, the President of the NCRIB, Prince Babatunde Oguntade noted that the award was a testimony to the sound operational excellence of NEM and the quality leadership provided by Mr Smart over the years. The NCRIB President underscored the solid support received from the company by the Council in support of the growth of insurance broking practice in Nigeria.

Similarly, Prince Oguntade also applauded the trio of Mr Olushola Tinubu, Managing Director of Scib Nigeria & Co Ltd and Chief Babajide Olatunde-Agbeja, Chairman of Boff & Co. Insurance Brokers Ltd and Mr Amos Adeyeye, Vice Chairman of Hogg Robinson Nigeria, for bagging “Insurance Brokers Life Achievers Awards” of Almond, noting that they were indeed a great pride to the broking profession and the NCRIB
