SEC sets up implementation team for ISA 2025
The Securities and Exchange Commission has set up an implementation team for the new law, Investments and Securities Act 2025, to ensure the achievement of the core of the law. According to a statement from the SEC on Sunday, the Director-General, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, revealed this while giving insights into the new law in Abuja. President Bola Tinubu in late March gave presidential assent to the Investments and Securities Act 2025, thus repealing the ISA 2007, which had governed capital market operations before now. Agama, highlighting the stricter penalties for Ponzi scheme operators, said the SEC’s watchfulness will now be higher. He stated, “We are going all out for anyone that we find culpable in this act, making sure investors are safe and confident in making investments in the Nigerian capital market. The Commission will intensify clampdowns on Ponzi schemes in 2025 now with the passage of the bill.
