The appointment was announced during a courtesy visit by officials of YALI Network Nigeria to the corporate office of The Mirror Newspaper, where both organisations discussed areas of collaboration to promote youth-driven initiatives, leadership development, and national development.
Leading the delegation, the Coordinator, YALI Network Nigeria, Amb. Rahbihat Rabiu said the partnership with The Mirror Newspaper was strategic, considering the newspaper’s growing influence and commitment to objective journalism and national development.
Rabiu explained that the collaboration would help amplify the activities of the YALI Network, showcase the achievements of young Nigerian leaders, and create more awareness about opportunities available to youths across the country.
She noted that the media plays a vital role in shaping narratives and empowering young people, stressing that partnering with credible media organisations would further strengthen the visibility and impact of YALI programmes in Nigeria.
According to her, the initiative also aims to encourage more young Nigerians to take active roles in leadership, community development, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.
Also speaking during the visit, the Deputy Coordinator, YALI Network Lagos, Amb. Adeyemi Oluwabunmi said the partnership would help bridge the information gap between youth-focused programmes and the general public.
He emphasised that the collaboration would provide a platform for young leaders and innovators to share their success stories, initiatives, and contributions to national development.
Responding, the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of The Mirror Newspaper, Rev. Stanley Ihedigbo, expressed appreciation to YALI Network Nigeria for appointing the newspaper as one of its media partners.
Ihedigbo assured the delegation that The Mirror Newspaper would continue to support initiatives that promote youth empowerment, leadership development, and positive societal change.
He noted that young people remain the driving force of Nigeria’s future and stressed the importance of providing them with platforms to express their ideas, innovations, and solutions to national challenges.
The Editor-in-Chief further stated that the newspaper would leverage its platforms to highlight youth-focused programmes, leadership initiatives, and development activities undertaken by YALI Network members across the country.
The visit also provided an opportunity for both organisations to exchange ideas on future collaborations, including media coverage of youth programmes, leadership campaigns, capacity-building initiatives, and public awareness projects.
With the partnership, YALI Network Nigeria and The Mirror Newspaper are expected to work closely to promote youth participation in governance, entrepreneurship, innovation, and community development.
