The Nigerian Army finance corps team headed by the Chief of Accounts & Budget; Major General Jakko and the Director of Finance and Accounts; Brigadier General Ohunyeye FCCA received the ACCA team at a courtseycall to the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja to formally recognize the support given to ACCA student and members on the force as well as discuss areas of partnership.

The ACCA team comprised of the chief executive Helen Brand OBE, Jamil Ampomah Director, ACCA Africa, Tom Isibor Head of ACCA Nigeria, Taiwo Oyedele, Member National Advisory Committee, ACCA, Evelyn Isioye Business Development Manager, Key Accounts, Nigeria and Anthony Chukwuma, Business Development Manager, Northern Region, ACCA Nigeria.

The team met with Major General Jakko, Chief of Accounts & Budget, Brig. General Felix Ohunyeye, Head of Finance and 10 principal officers of the Nigerian Army Finance Corp at the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Area 10, Abuja.

During discussions, Helen Brand, OBE, chief executive of ACCA highlighted the various ways ACCA is able to collaborate with the Nigerian Army to develop finance professionals, explaining ACCA’s vision and work done with employers and an ever-evolving qualification over the years.

Evelyn Isioye, Key Account Manager, ACCA stated that “there are opportunities for continuous professional development through ACCA Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events for the Nigerian Army under on the Approved Employer program” This would ensure that professional accountants from the Nigerian Army Headquarters are invited to attend ACCA CPD events in Abuja. She also mentioned the fact that ACCA stand-alone certifications in specialist areas are relevant for staff capacity building of the Nigerian Army.

Areas of support requested from ACCA by Brig Gen Ohunyeye includes the award of Approved Employer status and partnership with the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA)
