First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Dr. Banigo, Sen. Ned Nwoko to lead other top dignitaries to Women in Medicine conference, June 27- 28*
Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria and Her Excellency Rev. Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, Cross River State First Lady, Senator Ned Nwoko and others have confirmed attendance to the Focus Africa/MWAN Women in Medicine, Health and Wellness Conference slated to hold this weekend, June 27 – 28, 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria.
They will lead a host of other top dignitaries who have equally confirmed attendance to the conference aimed at exploring the opportunities offered by collaborations with players within the health ecosystem with the ultimate goal of tapping the opportunities that lie within.
The theme of the conference is: “Strengthening Networks for Prompt Diagnosis and Care,” and will hold at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, by 9am daily.
Keynote address will be delivered by distinguished Senator Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Chairman, Senate Committee on Health.
Organisers of the conference said the event will bring together experts in the health sector from laboratories, research, medicine, NGOs, donor agencies, ministries, and departments.
In a chat with Journalists, Monday morning on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport, Sucex Bright, President, Focus Africa, stated that a lot of work has gone into this project with delegates expected from many African countries among which are doctors, nurses, pharmacists, Optometrists, physiotherapists, and research.
He promised all registered delegates and guests of an experience they won’t forget in hurry in the two-day event.
“The session will explore the opportunities offered by collaborations in medicine, health, and wellness, emphasizing the pivotal role it plays in shaping the future of healthcare.
“To drive home the conversation, there will be a panel discussion on “Building Stronger Networks for Healthcare Professionals & Updating Knowledge – Learnings from the field”, this interactive panel discussion will bring together professionals from diverse backgrounds- in healthcare. Members of the panel discussion who are experts in their chosen fields will share insights on the importance of networking, collaboration, and building strong connections within the industry.
The panel session will be moderated by Dr Adedolapo Fasewe.
Bright noted that, there will also be discussions around cervical cancer vaccination and the WHO strategy for cervical cancer elimination, which will be the second and third sessions at the conference.
Attendees will gain practical tips on fostering meaningful professional relationships and updating their knowledge.
This second and the third panel will be moderated by Chief Moji Makanjuola and Dr Chizoba Wonodi.
There will be a workshop with Focus on “Advancements in Diagnostics and Care Technologies,” this workshop will delve into the latest advancements in diagnostic technologies and healthcare practices.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore emerging trends, engage with cutting-edge technologies, and discuss the impact of these innovations on prompt diagnosis and patient care.
Notable speakers here include Dr Abayomi Ajayi, Dr. Modupe Elebute-Odunsi & Mrs Joyce Emerenini.
“We will round off the conference with a focus on “Holistic Health and Well-being, A Beautiful You”
This session will focus on holistic health and well-being, emphasizing the importance of selfcare for healthcare professionals. Experts in wellness and mindfulness will share practical tips, techniques, and resources for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, managing stress, and prioritizing mental and physical well-being.
Speakers include: H. E. Alanyingi Sylva, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Garba, Dr Ogugua Osi-Ogbu, Dr Nnebuogo Oyakhire and Society of Lifestyle Medicine National President Dr Moyesore Makinde.
According to Professor Rosemary Ogu, National President Medical Women Association of Nigeria, all of these sessions are designed to offer a diverse and comprehensive program, catering to the interests and professional development needs of attendees at the conference.
The conference will wrap up with the unveiling of the Focus Africa Magazine by the President Focus Africa Series, Amb. Sucex Bright and presentation of Awards to deserving Africans who have contributed so much to medical health development in the continent.
