Following the nod given by the Benue State House of Assembly, the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, said it has resumed the process of recruiting over 9,000 teachers in its employment .
Recall that the State Assembly had, mid-December, halted the recruitment process to allow the Cephas Dyako-led Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate the exercise to ascertain that extant laws were respected and that due process was strictly observed by the Board in the exercise.
After conducting its investigations and satisfied that the Dr. Grace Adagba-led management of the Board ensured due process and transparency in the recruitment process, the Assembly, few days back, lifted the suspension.
The committee in its report stated that extant laws allowed the Board “to recruit, appoint, promote, and discipline teaching and non-teaching staff on grade levels 07 and above.”
It also disclosed that 74,574 candidates applied for the recruitment, while a total number of 48,895 candidates sat for the just Computer-Based Test, CBT.
Following the development, the Board has commenced the process, which has entered its final stages with the commencement of the screening of the applicants who met its cut-off marks.
The Board in a statement by its Information Officer, Emmanuel Akese warmly appreciates the patience of all the applicants shortlisted for the exercise.
It said it was pleased to announce the continuation of the screening exercise assuring “all applicants of a smooth and transparent process for effective quality Basic Education delivery.”
According to the statement, the screening exercise which would last a week, would commenced January 10, 2024 and end January 16, 2024 with applicants from the 23 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state alloted specific dates for screening at Board Headquaters.
