COVID-19: Air Peace airlifts FG’s medical supplies from Turkey
Air Peace has taken delivery of the first batch of the Federal Government ‘s medical supplies for the fight against coronavirus pandemic and for the treatment of infected persons.
A source told NewsGazette that the airline’s Boeing 777 marked 5N-BWI which left Nigeria early yesterday for Istanbul, Turkey, landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in the night.
It was also gathered that another Boeing 777-ER aircraft marked 5N-VPE would leave for Beijing, China, tomorrow (Monday) for another batch of medical supplies from the federal government.
Meanwhile, the airline’s chief operating officer, Mrs. Toyin Olajide has, on behalf of the airline, expressed appreciation to the federal government for its fervor in containing the spread of the coronavirus disease in the country.
She said in a statement on Sunday that the government “is way ahead of some countries in the fight against the virus.”
“The management of Air Peace commends the federal government for being proactive in the preparation for emergencies, preventing the spread of the virus and also providing the kits and other medical equipment for the treatment of those infected by the pandemic.
“This shows that government is ready to fight this disease and it is even more prepared than the governments of some of the advanced nations in the measures and strategies adopted to eradicate the virus,” she said.
