CHI Life Assurance Limited, a subsidiary of Consolidated Hallmark Holdings Plc, CHI Life Assurance Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding life insurance penetration in Nigeria through innovative products, strategic partnerships and stronger collaboration with professional insurance brokers.
The assurance was given at the Professional Brokers’ Evening organised by the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Abuja Area Committee, held in Abuja..
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of CHI Life Assurance Limited, Mr Tope Ilesanmi, said the future of life assurance lies in creating solutions that meet the changing needs of individuals, families and businesses while working closely with brokers who remain trusted advisers to customers.
According to him, CHI Life has deliberately positioned itself within Nigeria’s broader financial ecosystem by integrating life assurance with health insurance and financial services to deliver more comprehensive financial protection.
“The future of financial security is built on collaboration across the financial ecosystem.
At CHI Life Assurance, we are positioning ourselves beyond conventional life insurance by creating stronger connections between life assurance, healthcare and financial services.
This enables us to deliver holistic solutions that truly meet the evolving needs of Nigerians.”
Highlighting the company’s financial growth, Mr Ilesanmi disclosed that CHI Life’s shareholders’ funds increased significantly following recapitalisation.
“Our shareholders’ funds have grown from N8 billion to N10 billion following recapitalisation.
This strengthens our capacity to underwrite larger risks, honour our obligations and provide greater confidence to our customers and broker partners.”
He further announced that the company had successfully acquired the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) Risk Portfolio, describing the development as a strong indication of CHI Life’s underwriting capacity and growing market confidence.
“The acquisition of the NSIA Risk Portfolio is a strong testament to our financial strength and technical capability.
It reinforces our readiness to underwrite larger life businesses while delivering the high standards of service our stakeholders expect.”
Mr Ilesanmi explained that CHI Life continues to design products around customers’ specific needs rather than offering generic insurance solutions.
“Today’s customers expect solutions that reflect their realities. Our responsibility is to understand those realities and develop products that provide meaningful financial protection throughout different stages of life.”.
Using the company’s Rent Secure solution as an example, he encouraged brokers to partner with CHI Life in expanding access to products that address everyday financial challenges.
“Rent Secure is one of the innovative solutions we have introduced to address practical needs within our society. We invite our broker partners to work with us in taking products like this to more Nigerians who require financial security and peace of mind.”
Speaking on the true essence of life assurance, Mr Ilesanmi described every policy as a promise that extends beyond financial compensation.
“Life assurance is not just a policy document. It is a promise that says, ‘I have thought about your tomorrow, even while I am here today.’ That promise is what gives life insurance its true value.”
He challenged insurance brokers to adopt a more purpose driven approach when engaging clients..
“The question should no longer be, ‘Which product can I sell today?’ Rather, it should be, ‘Which future am I helping this customer protect?’ When we begin every conversation from that perspective, we create lasting value for families, businesses and society.”
According to him, life insurance is ultimately about preserving dreams, protecting loved ones and securing future generations.
“Our business is not simply about selling policies. It is about securing futures, preserving legacies and giving families confidence that tomorrow has been planned for.”
He concluded by reminding stakeholders that trust remains the foundation upon which the insurance industry is built.
“Trust remains the true currency of the insurance industry.
Every promise we make, every claim we settle and every relationship we build either strengthens or weakens that currency. At CHI Life Assurance, we remain committed to earning and sustaining that trust every single day.”.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NCRIB Abuja Area Committee commended CHI Life Assurance and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance for creating a platform that promotes engagement between insurers and brokers.
“This event reflects the commitment of CHI Life Assurance and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance to strengthening professional relationships and promoting meaningful dialogue that will move our industry forward.”
Also speaking at the event, the Treasurer of NCRIB, Mazi Chijioke Nwafor, praised CHI Life Assurance for its professionalism and service delivery.
“CHI Life Assurance has continued to demonstrate professionalism, prompt service delivery and responsiveness to brokers.
These qualities inspire confidence, and I encourage brokers to continue supporting the company as it expands its footprint within the Nigerian insurance market.”
The Vice President of NCRIB, Mr Rotimi Adewale, applauded the company’s commitment to collaboration and innovation.
“CHI Life Assurance has demonstrated that sustainable growth comes from collaboration, innovation and mutual respect between insurers and brokers.
We appreciate the management’s commitment to strengthening these relationships for the benefit of the industry.”
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from brokers and insurers to work together in expanding life insurance awareness, improving financial inclusion and ensuring that more Nigerians enjoy the security and peace of mind that life assurance provides.
