The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), the umbrella body for all Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Nigeria, expresses its deep sorrow following the tragic crash of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft near Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday, October 5, 2026.

On behalf of the Governing Council and the broader insurance sector, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association, extends her profound condolences to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, as well as to the Chief of Air Staff and the entire Nigerian Armed Forces, the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, and all aviation industry stakeholders, while offering heartfelt prayers to the bereaved families of the fallen personnel and crew members, and to the government and people of Nigeria.

Conveying the collective sympathy of the industry, Mrs. Nwachukwu stated: that “Words are insufficient to convey the profound grief felt across our industry following this tragedy. The loss of 25 patriotic military officers, dedicated airmen, and flight crew members represents an irreparable blow to our national security framework and a heartbreaking moment for our nation.

“These courageous individuals devoted their lives to safeguarding the sovereignty, peace, and security of our homeland. Their service and ultimate sacrifice will remain permanently etched in our national memory. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families facing this unimaginable loss.”

In solidarity with the Federal Government and military leadership, Mrs. Nwachukwu affirmed the industry’s commitment to providing financial stability and prompt relief to the beneficiaries and affected institutions.

“The Nigerian Insurance Industry stands fully prepared to honour its obligations,” Mrs. Nwachukwu added. “Member companies have been directed to prioritize, expedite, and seamlessly process all valid claims connected to this incident, ensuring that the families of our fallen heroes receive the full financial support and benefits to which they are entitled without administrative delay.”

The Association prays for divine strength and comfort for the grieving families and for the peaceful repose of the departed heroes.
