The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited five staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for interrogation.

It was learnt that the staff were invited ostensibly in connection with the postponement of the general election on February 16, the day the exercise was slated to start with the presidential and national assembly elections.

Those believed to have been quizzed are the commission’s national commissioner in charge of logistics, Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, the director of information communications technology, Mr. Chidi Nwafor, the director procurement, Mr. Ken Ukeagu, director of voter education and publicity, Mr. Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi and the assistant director of ICT, Ms. Bimbo Oladunjoye.

It was gathered that the chairman of the 17-man ad hoc committee on logistics, Mr. Ahmed Mu’azu, was yet to be invited.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu had, while announcing the election shift, blamed the development on sabotage and logistical issues.
