By Ngozi Onyeakusi—In a bid to give delegates from Africa a sense of belonging at the yearly British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) Conference, issues relating to insurance practice in the continent may soon be introduced into the yearly professional confab.

Giving this assurance was the Chief Executive of the Association, Mr. Steve White, when he received the delegation of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, led by its president, Mr. Rotimi Edu, in audience at the close of the 2022 BIBA Conference held in Manchester, UK.

White who stated that while delegates from Nigeria and other African countries could continue to take advantage of the robust exhibitions that complements the conference, he noted that the organizers of the Conference may soon yield to the request for more inclusion of African issues in the fringe sessions of the global insurance confab.

White promised to sustain the tempo of relationship between BIBA and the NCRIB, particularly in the area of training and human capital development and expressed delight that the Council had over the years made overwhelming representation at the yearly conferences of the Association.

Earlier, the President of the Council, Mr. Rotimi Edu had appealed for the understanding and support of BIBA in bringing to the fore issues relating to insurance in Africa to give a sense a belonging to delegates from the region.

Edu extolled BIBA for strengthening partnership with the NCRIB translating into better professional practice by its members and positioning them at a better advantage amongst the professions.
