By Ngozi Onyeakusi—The Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Dr Chioma Ejikeme has called on pensioners  to take advantage of the ongoing ‘I Am Alive’ online confirmation exercise under the Defined Benefits Scheme (DBS) aimed at confirming the aliveness of pensioners.

Ejikeme, made the call during the North-west stakeholder’s engagement in Kaduna yesterday.

According to her, PTAD has successfully tested the application on 50,000 randomly selected pensioners from four operational departments in the six geo-political zones in the pilot stage.

“Following the success of the pilot phase, on the 14th of April 2023, PTAD fully rolled out the solution for the use of our pensioners”, she said.

She cautioned pensioners against patronising pension fraudsters, stressing that no staff of PTAD will call or send any message to pensioners requesting payment before their arrears or gratuity is paid.

One of the pensioners, Ibrahim Muhammad Zuru who is the Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Kebbi State, said he has been adequately enlightened on the need for pensioners to take part in the ‘I Am Alive’ online confirmation exercise to continue to receive their pension.
