The federal government has called on relevant stakeholders to join forces with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide enough food within the shortest possible time to force down food prices and make safe, affordable and nutritious food available to Nigerians. Speaking on the President’s state of emergency declaration on food security, called on the stakeholders to come together and evolve strategies and programmes to overcome the challenges of food security and poverty. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Ernest Umakhihe stated this yesterday in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the Cooperative Stakeholders’ Engagement Workshop with the theme: “Positioning the Cooperative Sector to Sustainably Drive the Social and Economic Development of Nigeria”. Represented by the Director, Special Duties of the ministry, Mrs. Fisal Lawal, he urged the cooperative sector to carry along policy makers, implementers and other stakeholders within the three tiers of government for it to sustainably participate in developing Nigeria. He added that the sector has to be focused, inward looking and harness resources available within Nigeria.
